Stoke Mandeville

Stoke Mandeville branch was founded in 2016 after the Chairman of the SCKPA had lobbied the NHS over ill-conceived plans to increase car parking charges for dialysis patients at High Wycombe and Stoke Mandeville.

We decided to hold a monthly supper meeting at The Charter, 2 Rimmington Way, Aylesbury HP19 8AW. Follow the link to visit The Charter's website. They have been very good friends to us and make us very welcome each month.

We meet on the second Tuesday at 7pm for 7:30pm. (We chose the second Tuesday because Stoke Mandeville Renal Unit takes bloods on the first Wednesday - work it out!).

Danielle the manager is rumoured to have taken Sidney da Kidney on her recent honeymoon.

The photo shows the table setting as used for our Christmas meeting.

Stoke Mandeville branch decided that they wanted to get directly involved in raising funds for use at the Stoke Mandeville Renal Unit and for the SCKPA as a whole. More details of our fundraising can be found on the Fund Raising pages of this website, but in summary we have;

  • Held a Car Boot Sale, courtesy of Princes Risborough Scouts and Guides Association;
  • Created Sidney da Kidney who will raise money by accompanying you on holiday;
  • Started selling NKS Keys, which open disabled toilets in public spaces such as pubs, shopping centres, motorway service stations, bus and train stations and many more;
  • Started saving for a mobile lift to help some of our less mobile dialysers to get onto their beds with minimal stress to patient and staff (see photo at right).
